Shri. V. Sivankutty, Minister for General Education and Labour represents the Nemom Constituency of Thiruvananthapuram district in the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly.

Prior contesting in 2021 Legislative Assembly general elections, he was the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and Joint Secretary of All India Mayors' Council. He is a State Committee Member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the State Secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Kerala. Earlier he was the District President of CITU, Thiruvananthapuram.

Shri. Sivankutty, a committed social activist, entered politics as part of Students' Federation of India (SFI) campaigns and agitations and had held various positions like District President, State President, District Secretary, State Secretary and All India Joint Secretary of SFI. Earlier he served as the Ulloor Panchayat President.

He served various other positions like Thiruvananthapuram District Secretariat Member of CPI(M),  Thiruvananthapuram District President of CITU, Thiruvananthapuram District Vice-President of Auto-Taxi Union (CITU), Secretary of Government Presses Union, District President of Skilled Workers Union, President of Titanium Labour Union, President of District Football Association, Patron of Kerala Mountaineering Association and as Senate Member of Kerala University.
